Eating culture in Europe is deeply rooted in coziness, where meals are not just about food, but about slowing down, connecting, and appreciating the moments shared around the table.
Hello Everybody,
Before we dive into the recipes, here’s a little about me. I grew up in Bavaria, Germany, where food is not just about preparing meals—it’s about taking time, social engagement, and celebrating ingredients. I focus on family-style cooking, where meals are an opportunity to bring everyone together.
Living in California has made me appreciate even more how special European eating culture is. German and European cuisine, especially comfort food, is about Gemütlichkeit—which translates to “coziness”—the joy of taking things slow and savoring life.
It took me almost seven years to figure out where to find the right ingredients for authentic German recipes here in the USA. Along the way, I’ve learned so much and wanted to share this knowledge. That’s why I started this blog and am working on a cookbook featuring classic Bavarian recipes and tips for recreating them abroad.
I hope my passion for European cooking inspires you to try these authentic recipes and enjoy the coziness they bring to the table. I’d love for you to check out my blog and share your thoughts with me. Are there any dishes you miss or any tips you need? Your feedback would help me make the blog and cookbook even better!
Guten Appetit,
Iris
